It is only 3 days since Torbay Aerials were called in to install streaming internet to some local pubs and hotels. They were caught very unaware and there were a lot of issues. Luckily we were able to find solutions very quickly because we have a lot of experience of networking.
This morning akamai announced that they are building a HD streaming network which will enable the delivery of HD content to the masses. These are the people that currently enable all the big companies to host all their big files without overloading their servers. They do this by having a server in or close to your internet provider which copies the files closer to you so that you don't have to go direct to the company itself. In effect it is a 'Buffer' service.
